A-DATA announce its new series of Solid State Drive (SSD) with capacity up to 64 GB. The SSD is available in 1.8 and 2.5 inches at SATA and PATA interface. Using SLC Flash a 32GB capacity is reached, moreover, using MLC Flash the capacity can be as large as 64GB. This new device is completely compatible with the hard drive on notebook PC and can support consumer electronic products such as: UMPC, PMP and camcorder. Therefore, these SSD can be easily and wildly being employed. The NB and consumer electronic manufacturers can replace the existing hard drive with a SSD without any problem.

Compared with the traditional hard drive, A-DATA’s SSD boasts excellent anti-shock function, longer data retention, faster access time, and lower power consumption. It is indeed a valuable replacement of hard drive. The latest wear-leveling technology that A-DATA applies in its full product lines is extremely useful. Not only works on the dynamic data, when the system is not busy, the advanced wear-leveling technology also works on the static data (such as OS system) to well balance the endurance of all NAND Flash cells. The characteristics of NAND Flash are then well utilized to maximize the durability of SSD. Furthermore, without moving parts being used, A-DATA’s SSD can have a lower malfunction rate compared with the traditional product.

A-DATA’s SSD-series also provide the faster IOPS (inputs/outputs per second) feature which can speed up the boot up time of the NB. When processing the 512 bytes read transfer, more than 9000 of IOPS can be achieved on 1.8 inches ZIF SSD. Other A-DATA SSD products can also reach 6000 of IOPS. Its great random access speed and stability can satisfy the storage requirement on the portable or mobile devices and provide the best solution to the users.

Mr. Gibson Chen, vice President of A-DATA, stated that the SSD uses no mechanical parts, such as spindle motor, actuator, and read/write heads, thus it is shock-proof and no noise. In addition, the working temperature is much lower than that of the traditional hard drive. Therefore, the SATA SSD offers extremely high durability, excellent performance and low power consumption to the NB products. The PATA SSD, on the other hand, using long-existing interface can be adopted on affordable PC   and vast applications of consumer electronic products. Furthermore, since less power is needed for SSD, the device’s battery life can be extended and productivity can then be increased.
